The Best New Forest Christmas Markets 2016
Give a locally sourced gift this year from our pick of the best New Forest Christmas markets around
Here at The Bell Inn, we love our food. Particularly that which has been sourced locally, right here in the New Forest – but you can probably tell that with a quick glance at the home grown menu at our New Forest restaurant, right? Regulars at local food markets and with head chef Dave Basher cooking up a locally sourced storm in the kitchen, we thought it would be a nice idea to give you a heads up on the best markets to stock up on your tasty cheeses, chutneys and jams ahead of the festive season.
The New Milton Christmas Festival
On Saturday 3rd December, head to the festival to meet Father Christmas, enjoy live entertainment and the Lion’s Club Lantern Parade but, most importantly, to indulge in the delectable delights of the French market. With the cheeses and wines that will be on offer, you could create your very own festive hamper or your very own cheeseboard for guests to enjoy. Either way, this is sure to be a fun, festive event for all the family.
Hampshire Farmer’s Markets
Although this market spans the seasons, it is great for stocking up on supplies for your Christmas lunch. From fine cuts of meat to fresh fruit and veg, you will not be disappointed with the produce that comes out of these markets.
Hythe Mistletoe Fayre
Another staple on the New Forest Christmas market scene, Hythe Mistletoe Fayre takes place on Saturday 26th November (between 10am and 4pm) and is not to be missed. On this day St Johns Steet in Hythe Village comes to live with all things festive, with yultide gift ideas, treats and much more.
Winchester Cathedral Christmas Market
A 30-minute drive from our new forest restaurant and you will find a Christmas market that is well worth the drive. Open every day from Friday 18th November to Tuesday 20th December, you will be able to indulge in festive foods aplenty in this historic setting. With chalets selling favourites such as mulled wine, bratwurst and mince pies and the ice rink café providing warm drinks, this will be a market certain to satisfy the senses.
Evening Christmas Fayre at The Bell
Join us for our first ever Evening Christmas Fayre at The Bell. With Christmas coming, we’re throwing open our doors to offer a huge festive welcome on Wednesday 30 November between 6pm – 9pm. With stalls from New Forest artists, as well as a range of artists and producers from Hampshire Open Studio’s including jewellery, ceramics, paintings and glass, plus New Forest Cider and much more, there is something for everyone.
