Championing the local delights in the kitchens of one of the freshest New Forest restaurants, we blend local ingredients with flavours that traverse generations. We nurture the culinary essence of our ancestry by creating traditional New Forest favourites with a modern twist; passionately embracing all that is homely to proudly presenting The Bell Inn as one of the best places to eat in the New Forest.
The New Forest is so much more than just a scene of stunning heathland, quaint villages, wild horses and ancient woodlands. It has become a seasonal Shangri La of luscious delights to many faithful foodies; a mouth-watering Mecca, to those who seek to satiate in its rich bounty of culinary desires. Having been an inn for more than 200 years we have a strong connection to this ancient landscape and are proudly local through and through. With the incredible communities the forest has given life to, we love to support all those who harbour here. Here are some of our foodie friends of the forest that make our menu reflect the freshest of what’s available in season:
Swallowfields Farm, home to our game, wild boar, steak and poultry. All our meat comes either from here or our own family estate in Scotland. This lovely fourth generation family of farmers turn their animals out to graze on the healthy and happy hectares of the New Forest itself, just like the many generations before them.
Warrawee Duck Farm, just down the road in Copythorne, supplies the eggs for our scrummy Duck Egg crumpet. Their family dedication to a top-quality service is second to none as they hand collect their eggs every morning, 365 days of the year… and that includes Christmas!
Home to the artisan producers of fresh handmade chocolate full of fabulous flavours. We have a real sweet tooth for these tasty treats and you’ll find them in the equally scrumptious bedrooms of our New Forest hotel.
Land and Sea
Day boats fish of the coast of Lymington and deliver us fresh fish on a daily basis. Some will swim their way up river to Rockbourne where we have our trout smoked ready for the restaurant. We grow our own fresh herbs in the gardens of our New Forest hotel and restaurant. As well as being able to take a lovely sunny stroll on down to beautiful Beaulieu to hand-pick some strawberries, all of which adorn our cocktails and make our afternoon tea and delicious desserts that little bit more local.
These lovely locals provide us our meat, fish, fruit and veg and, for some, even their herds graze on our land. With nature’s larder on our doorstep, you’ll find our menu is made from many hands working collectively, proudly showcasing the countryside’s food heritage and reflecting the freshest of what’s available and in season. Our New Forest hotel is in the heart of ancient beauty and traditional tastes. To forage for the finest local flavours this season, journey to the heart of it all and feast on local flavours with our award-winning New Forest restaurant at one of the best places to eat in the New Forest.
