Is No Bird Absurd this Christmas?
If you’re looking for places to eat in the New Forest this festive season, enter our ‘Turkey Free Zone’…
We are delighted to announce that our Turkey Free Christmas Menu has landed! Now before some of you accuse us of becoming a scrooge and the feathers start flying, hear us out; we will still be serving turkey for the traditionalists, but we think there are loads of great twists that can be applied to your feast this Christmas. If you’re quite the popular party animal, there’s no need to feel tired of Turkey by the time we get to Christmas – our Turkey-Free version is sure to go down a treat!
Many of us feel like Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without turkey on the table, but given that popularity for this option has only become prevalent in the last 60 years and was first adopted by the Tudors for feasting, it’s not actually been a tradition of Christmas for all that long. Many New Forest restaurants will be carving the turkey excessively this year, but not The Bell Inn.
In 2015, 87% of Brits had turkey as part of their Christmas dinner and last year, 10 million birds graced our tables. Don’t these poor birds deserve a break? We thought it was time we did something about it. We have nothing against turkeys, but we think it’s truly absurd to limit ourselves to just one offering at a time of great feasting and celebration!
Join us at The Bell Inn for a Christmas meal chosen from our ‘festive party’ menu between 1-23 December and see what private dining in Hampshire is all about. You can expect Asian influenced starters such as Thai squash and coconut soup – not forgetting the tempura prawns of course! We even have forest mushrooms and sticky BBQ chicken wings for those who don’t mind getting their hands a little dirty. From our signature kiev to battered halloumi, Fish ‘n’ chips to our very own sliders, you can start your own tradition with exciting food that is sure to be the talking point of your Christmas get together. Forget Christmas pudding – there’s something for everyone when it comes to afters. Sundaes and splits, cheesecake and breaded Camembert… you’d be silly not to try something new this festive season.
