Usual & Unusual Christmas Family Traditions
Our New Forest pub explores some of the most usual and unusual family Christmas traditions…
Being a family-owned pub in the New Forest, we believe that Christmas traditions are one of those very special things which make the festive period a joyous time for all the family. We understand the importance of these traditions during this magical time of year, which is why we’ve come up with a list of all the traditions that we won’t be breaking this Christmas…
Fun & Games
It goes without saying that Christmas just wouldn’t be the same without a good old family squabble over who won the Christmas games. Does your family stick to traditional games like charades and monopoly? Or do you like to be a little different like? Many years ago ‘Mumming’ used to be a popular game by which both men and women would swap clothes whilst singing and dancing the night away – interesting hey? But either way, we know that a little bit of fun is always a must and will leave you wondering why you always wait a whole year to do it all again.
Here at The Bell Inn, we’re hosting a Christmas Day quiz and we’ve even got our own giant chessboard in our garden!
Food Glorious Food
Arguably the best part of Christmas, a festive feasting is always a must! If you’re all for venturing out to our pub in the New Forest, then you will be getting exactly that. Whether you’re a turkey traditionalist or not, we’ve got exquisite grub to suit everyone’s appetites. Is Champagne with breakfast a not-to-be missed tradition in your household? Or maybe you’re crackers for cheese? Does the thought of a Christmas lunch without pigs in blankets bring a tear to your eye? There are so many to choose from, we could go on and on and on.
Loved or hated (particularly by those pesky teenagers); the family walk. Set in the heart of the New Forest, here at The Bell we’re very lucky to have many off-road trails, quiet roads and acres of natural beauty to explore, giving you plenty of space to walk off those mince pies! It is at your leisure to do as much or as little as you wish. If you’re looking for dog friendly hotels in the New Forest, we’re super dog friendly so you won’t need to worry about leaving your fluffy friends behind. Here at The Bell Inn, we understand that they’re part of the family and should be included in all of the festive fun!
Treats for Santa
It’s a popular family tradition to leave out treats on Christmas Eve for Santa and his reindeers. After all, delivering presents to every boy and girl is a very tiring job, so it’s only fair that we leave out a few mince pies and carrots! On Christmas Eve, you can unwind in front of the fire and try our homemade mulled wine and mince pies, and we won’t mind if you take a few to leave out for Santa!
This Christmas, why not make a new Christmas tradition and join us over the festive period for a few days to relax, unwind and spend time with either the family or that special someone. To book, call us on 023 8081 2214, email us or book online here.
