Five Wedding Tips & Trends
Here are our top tips for planning a New Forest wedding like no other…
Our wonderful wedding aficiando, Mark, has chosen five tips and tricks you won’t want to be without when planning your New Forest wedding this season.
1. Seasonal Savings
Whatever the weather or season, the New Forest is a beautiful spot to tie the knot. Shun expectation and say your vows in the winter or at any time that isn’t summer – doing so will allow you to save a lot of money and ensure availability for the date you have set your heart on. Not only will you avoid competition, you and your guests can get super cosy together and experiment with some sensational theming, seasonal dishes and unique colour palettes.
2. Ease into the Weekend
By hosting your wedding on a weekday and staying mid-week, you will see a massive difference in your wedding budget. While it might cause a slight inconvenience to some of your guests who have to request time off work, a Wednesday or Thursday ceremony will allow you to easily add on extra days that take your special celebrations into the weekend. After all – it’s your big day and if they want to help you celebrate they won’t mind taking some time away from work! It’s a win-win for everyone.
3. The Early Bird Catches the Worm
Wedding planning can take as long as you want it to. Some couples spend years in preparation and others can lock in all their arrangements in a few weeks. However you like to plan and whatever your timeline, we advise that it is better to get in touch with venues, photographers and catering early – the sooner you book, the better your price will be (and it gives you time for a payment plan if you need one). By pre-empting the rush you can get the date you want, the food you want and the venue you dream of without another couple pipping you to the post.
4. Share and Align Your Vision
There’s no point in dreaming of a specific wedding if it can’t be realised. Share your vision with our wedding team and we can accommodate – we will do everything we can to make it a reality for you. If you are inspired by rustic venues and vintage weddings, then The Bell Inn is the perfect place to declare your love. Our Forest weddings embody all that is great about the countryside – and we can personalise our space to suit you!
5. Move Away from Three-Courses
Formal three-course wedding reception dinners are becoming less popular. We have noticed that our most recent weddings are wanting to surprise their guests and make truly memorable moments when it comes to food. We’ve seen couples go for different things such as a completely customised buffet, classic afternoon tea or ‘pub classics’ like Sausage & Mash, Fish & Chips and even Burgers. Just because your parents or grandparents had a sit-down meal, doesn’t mean you have to! Whatever dishes you think would get your guests salivating, we can make it happen.
