Thinking of a staycation this year?
We’ve been doing some research at our New Forest hotel, and we think that what we discovered, teamed with our incredible powers of persuasion, could convince you to take a staycation this year…
Everyone loves a holiday, that’s a given. The time spent away with your loved ones, unchartered exploration, untold excitement and most importantly, relaxation. The one thing people don’t love so much? The cost. Did you know that a recent report by the Centre for Economics and Business Research (Cebr), reveals that UK holidaymakers spend an average of £532 per person on holiday?
When it comes to taking a break, be it at home or away, as a nation we are responsible for spending £31.2bn each year on all the things you need for your break abroad – think sunglasses, clothes and sunscreen. That’s a lot of pennies.
Here at The Bell, we firmly believe that a great holiday is closer than you think, and doesn’t have to cost the earth. Opt for a staycation and you can take advantage of all the UK has to offer; your beloved pets don’t have to brave a flight, you won’t have to
worry about weighing your cases (if it fits in the car or on the roof rack, it’s coming with you!) and above all, you will have complete freedom to see what you want, when you want. Join us in the New Forest for your holiday, and the only thing you’ll
get stuck behind is the odd stray cow – you can take a welcome break from the hustle and bustle of the airport.
The Beauty of the New Forest
Located down south? All you need to do is head down the M3 southwest from London. You can take in the counties of Surrey and Hampshire as you pass and amuse yourself with a game of ‘I spy’… before long you will get your first glimpse of the New Forest. One of ten National Parks, your holiday memories are set to be woven within 220 square miles of majestic coastline, ancient woodland, winding rivers… the list goes on! You will even be able to spot free roaming ponies, donkeys, cattle and pigs. Don’t forget to take a look at our New Forest Safari blog if you do decide to join us! Boasting 8 train stations, we’re confident you can get a train from your area and end up a short distance away from your final destination (which is our New Forest hotel, of course!)
What to do on your Staycation
We wouldn’t be the most welcoming accommodation in the New Forest if we didn’t share some wonderful things that you can do during your staycation. From the world-famous National Motor Museum at Beaulieu, to Exbury Gardens and their 200 acres of flowers, whether you love nature, history or beauty there is something for everyone around these parts. For the history buffs, you can visit an 18th-century shipbuilding village, explore Henry VIII’s coastal fortress at Hurst Castle and stop by Lepe Country Park to take in some D-Day WWII landmarks and beautiful shoreline. Nature lovers can make their own way around the idyllic landscape – though we personally love tackling the 60-mile Solent Way walk over a couple of days.
Don’t forget our own exclusive offers, and our Stay & Play Golf Package means everyone can perfect their swing. From leisurely strolls to more active holidays, you wouldn’t want to be anywhere else but The Bell Inn.
