Forest Markets in the New Forest

Those that choose to stay with us are often looking to immerse themselves in the culture of the new forest. Whether it’s through eating locally, admiring the forest’s animal inhabitants, or spending time in the local towns.

A great example of local delicacies and local culture are the regional markets that many of the villages hold. Each town has a different speciality and hold an opportunity to sample the local food as well as meet residence and enjoy the surrounding area.

The markets

Lymington Market

Open on Saturdays – 8:30am until 15:00pm

This market located in the picturesque town of Lymington is a short 30 min drive down towards the coast. Their market consists of over 90 stalls that sell a range of local and artisan products. If you are looking for something unique, different or hand made, this market should hold exactly what you didn’t know you were looking for.

Lymington is another fair-sized town, so if you are looking for something a little more traditional there are a range of shopping options available to you. Although we will be surprised if you don’t find what you hoped for within the stalls.

Ringwood Market

Open on Wednesdays – 8:30am until 15:00pm

Ringwood market is a more traditional market – located only 15 mins drive to the west of the hotel. The market boasts traditional farm produce and generalware. This town is very pretty and the drive to see it is an event in and of itself.

This market has been a fixture in the town for over 780 years and routinely draws customers from the local community and visitors to the area alike.

Hythe Market

Open on Tuesdays – 8:30am until 15:00pm

Hythe is a town located 20 minutes drive East South East from the hotel. There you will find all of the shops you would normally expect to find in a town of its size, but on Tuesdays, they host a farmers market that specialises in food produced locally. This is a great destination if you are looking for something to pick up for someone back home that they couldn’t get anywhere else.

The market consists of around 30 stalls selling not only fruit and Veg but also jewellery and locally produced fudge.

The best time of year to visit the markets

We feel that the local markets are great in the summer, but they are also well known for putting on special events including autumnal harvest, spring celebrations and of course, Christmas.

We are of course happy to help advise you on how you can make the most of your stay with us at any time of year.
