Mother’s Day in the New Forest: Make the Most of it!

We’ll let you in on a little secret: mums don’t really care about off the shelf cards or gifts. Not one bit. The best gift you could possibly give your mum on Mother’s Day is time – time together, as a family, or even just with her babies (no matter how old). That’s something you can’t buy, but you can add a few little flourishes to sweeten the day even more! Why not bring mum to the New Forest, for a Mother’s Day she’ll remember forever?

Take a Family Break

When joy is shared, it doesn’t divide. It multiplies. Mum knows that better than anyone else.

She’d love nothing more than a weekend of adventures; with dad, kids, dog – everyone in tow. Because the only thing better than having time together as a family is having even more time together!

So, make the most of Mother’s Day by making it a whole weekend away in the New Forest. There’s so much to see and do, so much to explore, so much fun to be had – you couldn’t possibly do it all in one day.

Springtime is when the forest really comes alive; read about our favourite things to see and do in the New Forest in spring. It’s the perfect time to book a stay.

Sometimes, mums need a break from their responsibilities. Dads and partners – this is your chance to shine. Let mum have a lie in while you take the kids down for a delicious New Forest breakfast. Give her a little time to herself while you take the kids out for a couple of hours. We’re a stone’s throw away from Peppa Pig World – which might not be every mum’s first choice for a day out, but it’ll definitely keep the little ones busy!

We’re also an excellent base for epic walks and sight-seeing, for grown ups and kids alike, once mum’s had her fill of rest and relaxation. Dads and partners needn’t worry; we serve some excellent coffee for when you need a boost.

Afternoon Tea

It’s an absolute classic, the English afternoon tea. It’s a treat that you know mum will love. Delicious scones, with oodles of jam and a generous dollop of clotted cream are hard to beat – and somehow, sandwiches just taste better when they’re cut into fingers.

There are plenty of places in the New Forest for afternoon tea – but naturally, we’re quite sure that ours is the best. It’s not just because we use the very best local ingredients that the New Forest has to offer, or because our food is expertly crafted by our award-winning Head Chef – but because of where we are.

Our 18th century coaching inn is the perfect venue for a Mother’s Day treat. In the heart of the forest, but well connected, we’re a great place to start or finish your day out with mum.

We’re also very excited about our special Mother’s Day lunch menu. Make sure you book in advance for either our afternoon tea or Mother’s Day lunch.

Do Something Just for Mum

For grown up children, you might be looking for a special day, just you and mum. Something just for her. Maybe she’s a big gardening fan – in which case, a visit to Fairweather’s Garden Centre in Beaulieu would make an excellent treat, with a little gift from you attached.

Or maybe just a day out walking together, stopping for ice cream along the way – perhaps in Burley or Brockenhurst.

In the end though, it doesn’t really matter what you do or where you go.

Just making the time to be together and share some laughs is more than enough – really. Nothing says “I love you, mum” louder than sharing your time.
