New Forest in daylight

Things We Miss Most about the New Forest – and What We Can’t Wait to Do Again!

It feels like a lifetime has passed since we first went into lockdown. At last, there seems to be a lightening of restrictions – and life can slowly begin to return (almost) normal!

The Sights

Ponies and cows, piglets and peacocks are just a few of the sights we miss most about days out in the New Forest. We missed seeing the bluebells in full bloom during April and the deer coming out of their wintry slumber. We missed the gently bustling streets of the tiny hamlets and villages dotted around the forest, like Burley and Lyndhurst.

We missed our beautiful garden at The Bell Inn, too – where we’d regularly be visited by ponies and cows year-round, and where you could enjoy a drink and delicious lunch in the sunshine. And speaking of lunch…

The Food

Oh New forest food, how we have missed you! From the seafood to the vegetables, we’ve never been so hungry for a locally-sourced meal. We’ve missed New Forest cheeses, wild growing mushrooms, chocolates from Beaulieu and locally reared meat.

We’ve missed cooking beautiful breakfasts, lavish lunches and delightful dinners for our hotel guests and visitors – all showcasing our double rosette award food made with local ingredients. Still, you can always enjoy a little bit of The Bell at home while we wait to open back up, thanks to our Head Chef’s delicious recipes. Why not try our famous fried chicken, or some of our beautifully indulgent brownies?

What We’re Looking Forward To

Is it too early to be looking forward to Christmas? We don’t think so! After all, it’s the most wonderful time of the year – and at The Bell Inn, we’re looking forward to spending the festive season together once again.

Let’s look forward to ringing in the New Year together – with a big night out and a comfortable night’s stay at our 18th century coaching inn, right in the heart if the New Forest.

Join Us for Food and Drinks!

With the government announcing new rules and the lifting of restrictions, we hope it won’t be too much longer before we can all see each other again. When it’s time to open our doors again, we hope you’ll join us to celebrate all the great things we’ve missed doing together: enjoying a refreshing drink, eating wonderful local produce – and celebrating every kind of special occasion that calls for a trip to The Bell Inn.

Stay up to date with our reopening plans: follow us on Instagram or add us on Facebook. We’re still available to talk about future events – call our reception team on 023 8081 2214 Monday to Friday for all enquiries.
