Dining In The New Forest
We all love food and, as a local friendly Inn who likes to welcome guests like an old friend, feeding you with good, honest food is what we do best in cosy our New Forest restaurant.
Owned by our family for over 200 years, our 18th century coaching Inn has long been a regular stop for travellers and locals alike.
Nowadays, our free house with rooms is used for all occasions; family gatherings, birthday parties, a cosy meal for two and private dining.
Our ethos is a simple one – we gather as many of our ingredients from the great larder we are fortunate to have here on our doorstep in the New Forest. We proudly showcase good, unpretentious food, always to order and always freshly prepared.
With our strong connection to the New Forest, we love to support our community. From land and sea, we use as many local growers and suppliers as possible. They provide most of our meat, fish, fruit and veg and some even graze their herds on our land. Our menu is created using the ingredients on our doorstep, from nature’s larder and our kitchen’s herb garden, to our own family estates both here in the New Forest and in Scotland. Made from many hands, our menu showcases our countryside’s food heritage while reflecting the freshest of what’s available in season – a true taste of the New Forest.
Our rustic, cosy interior provides you with three main rooms, each with their own character and unique design cleverly blending the Inn’s original features with modern day touches – a sort of ‘flat-capped nod’ where old meets new. Our aim is always to make you feel relaxed and comfortable.
We have our traditional bar with its huge open fireplace, inviting sofas, cosy corners and flagstone floor, where dogs are also more than welcome. For something more light and airy, our Garden Room overlooks our splendid New Forest beer garden, which hits the spot for that perfect place to enjoy a jug of Pimm’s in the summertime. Its well-maintained lawn, boules pitch and giant garden games to keep the kids happy – as well as the grown-ups! Finally, our recently refurbished Oak Room offers a timelessly elegant country farmhouse-style dining area for intimate dining, private parties or a good old Sunday roast with the family.
Food is served daily from 12 noon – 2.30 pm and 6 pm-9 pm.
Afternoon Teas available 3 pm – 5 pm (must be pre-booked).
Sunday Roasts served between 12 noon and 2.30 pm.
